The Port of Philadelphia remains a major center of maritime industrial commerce after more than 300 years and is a vital economic engine of the City and region. Hear from Sarah Thorp, Master Planning Manager, Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, as she delivers the latest on waterfront development and job creation along the Delaware River, including the Hyundai Motor Co. and Glovis of America deal, which is expected to create over 400 direct and indirect port-related jobs.
Ms. Thorp manages the Master Plan for the Central Delaware Waterfront, a $1.0 million, 1-year planning project for six miles of the Delaware Riverfront in Central Philadelphia. Previously Ms. Thorp was the Executive Director of the Delaware River City Corporation, a nonprofit implementing over $32 million in waterfront park and trail projects on the Delaware Riverfront in Northeast Philadelphia. She also served as Naval Aviator in the US Navy for 10 years.
