YPN Networking at The Free Library

September 9, 2014
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
The Free Library of Philadelphia
1901 Vine St
Philadelphia, PA 19103

Join members of YPN at the Free Library of Philadelphia to hear from its President and Director, Siobhan A. Reardon. In this role since 2008, and as the first woman to serve as chief executive, Ms. Reardon oversees the daily activities of 61 Library locations throughout the city: 49 neighborhood libraries, 3 regional libraries, the Parkway Central Library, the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, five technology Hot Spots (including the Virtual Library at the Philadelphia International Airport), the new Regional Research and Operations Center, and the Rosenbach of the Free Library of Philadelphia—as well as the busiest “branch” of all, freelibrary.org. Dedicated to improving literacy and access to free learning materials throughout Philadelphia, Ms. Reardon has steered the creation of an ambitious five-year strategic plan for the Library—underscored by a mission to advance literacy, guide learning, and inspire curiosity—and has begun implementation of a significant organizational restructuring of her 700-member staff in order to best serve Free Library customers in the 21st century. She is pleased to share her experiences with the YPN community – and will make sure everyone signs up for a library card before they leave!
