This month YPN encourages you to:

  • Recap YPN’s June networking event about going green at Triumph Brewery.
  • Attend the fifth annual ImPAct young professional’s statewide conference.

Spring Fling at McClure Elementary School

On Friday, June 15th, the Young Professionals Network finished off a year long volunteer initiative with a Spring Fling for 40 fourth graders of McClure Elementary School. Included were students with perfect attendance and those who attended Saturday school to make up days missed.

The day began with pizza and Hawaiian Punch in the school yard and it didn’t take long for the kids and volunteers to begin dancing to the Cha-Cha Slide. After pizza and dancing, students were split into four teams and went through a variety of relays as well as a game red light–green light and a giant game of kick ball.  To end the day, kids were treated to water ice from Rita’s.

The children did not go home empty handed though.  Thanks to Variety - The Children’s Charity, every child received 20 Disney DVD’s, a t-shirt, and a medal.  The Young Professionals Network would like to thank all of those who volunteered.

Recap YPN’s networking event at Triumph Brewery

Triumph Brewery played host to the Young Professionals Network on Tuesday, June 12th, for an event sponsored by PhillyCarShare.  Speaking at the event was Julie Hirshey, Manager of Community Relations for the Philadelphia Eagles, on the topic of going green.  The Eagles are the greenest establishment in the NFL (no pun intended), and Julie was on hand to share some ways that the organization profits from being so environmentally friendly.

On hand for the event were some Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders as well as the PhillyCarShare green men (a play off of the blue men).  The festivities were capped off with a raffle.A Donovan McNabb autographed football was given away, courtesy of the Eagles, in addition to two Triumph Brewery gift cards, one from PhillyCarShare and one from Triumph Brewing Company.  All and all, the night was a success.  Join us on July 17th at McFadden’s at Citizen’s Bank Park for our next event!

The Fifth Annual ImPAct Young Professionals Statewide Conference

The fifth ImPAct young professionals statewide conference will be held September 28-30, 2007 in Pittsburgh, PA.  ImPact 2007 will focus on young professionals and how they can affect positive change in their communities.  The conference will be a forum for uniting young professionals across the state through the common goals of retaining talented young people that live, work and play in Pennsylvania, connecting with leaders from the public and private sector who are stakeholders in the game of youth retention, and sharing best practices and ideas that successfully give young professionals in Pennsylvania a sphere of influence in the public sector.  The conference will also be a fun-filled weekend for networking and socializing with other young professionals from across the state, and enjoying Pittsburgh’s entertainment venues.

For more information about ImPAct 2007, including the conference agenda and speakers, go to www.payoungprofessionals.com.  Register by July 1st and you’ll get a discounted rate!
