Dress Down, So They Can Dress Up
Posted April 6th, 2011 by Stephanie GamboneDuring the month of April, the Save Summer Jobs campaign is encouraging supporters to organize Dress Down, So They Can Dress Up days in their workplace, school or house of faith. The idea is that your colleagues and classmates will donate $10 (suggested) to the Save Summer Jobs campaign to dress down that day. The fundraiser reinforces one of WorkReady’s main tenets: students want and need to work in professional settings this summer.
What is the Save Summer Jobs campaign? The Save Summer Jobs campaign asks all citizens to help offer our city’s young people the opportunity to spend their summer in educational, constructive, and potentially life-changing, employment experiences. Last year, over 11,000 students were placed at more than 1,300 worksites throughout the region, giving many participants their first professional work experience. This year, government funding will be cut drastically and the number of jobs will drop to an all-time low of 5,500. Every dollar raised will help provide a meaningful summer experience for a young Philadelphian. We need to raise funds to support as many young people as possible.
