Are You a Young Professional Considering Going Back to School for an M.B.A.?

In our efforts to help Young Professionals in the Philadelphia area achieve their educational and career goals, Kaplan Test Prep in Philadelphia invites YPN members to join us for the Midsummer’s B-School Dream Event on Thursday, July 15th at the Center for Architecture in Center City.    

This is a free networking event to help young professionals considering Business School. It provides a unique opportunity for young professionals to talk with Admissions reps from the region’s leading M.B.A. programs, as well as network with current M.B.A. students, alumni, and Kaplan GMAT faculty at one of Philadelphia’s coolest venues.

When:   Thursday, July 15, 2010 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Where:  Center for Architecture, 1218 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19107
Cost:     Free (Pre-registration required)

Additionally, we are extending the following special offers to YPN members who preregister and attend the event:

  1. When 10 or more YPN members attend this free networking event (members can be identified at registration), Kaplan will award one (1) free classroom or live online GMAT or GRE course scholarship to one (1) YPN Member.  Scholarship recipient will be randomly selected from all YPN members who pre-register AND attend event.  Regular classroom course tuition for GMAT is $1449.  GRE tuition is $1199.    
  2. All YPN members who are in attendance will receive a $300 discount tuition coupon to enroll in any Kaplan Test Prep Classroom or Live Online Test Prep Course.

Non-Profit Board Opportunity

Center City Opera Theater is welcoming applications for two new members of our Board of Directors. All backgrounds are welcome, but we are in particular need of someone with an accounting background and someone with a marketing background. CCOT is a 501(c)(3) arts organization in Philadelphia. We provide training and performance opportunities to vocal school graduates through our apprentice program. We commission, develop and perform new works of opera. WorkReady Summer Internships provide Philadelphia high school students with paid workplace experiences at area businesses for six weeks during the summer. These internships give young people a taste of the working world, exposure to career opportunities, and an understanding of how school is connected to economic success.

The Summer Intern Orientation is a kick-off training event for the WorkReady Philadelphia Summer Internship program. The orientation will be filled with information and activities that help youth prepare for work and better develop the skills that promote workplace success. This two-day event will take place June 24 and 30, 2010 at Thomas Jefferson University.
WorkReady Summer Internships provide Philadelphia high school students with paid workplace experiences at area businesses for six weeks during the summer. These internships give young people a taste of the working world, exposure to career opportunities, and an understanding of how school is connected to economic success.
As a volunteer what can I expect?
• Training conducted by Philadelphia Youth Network staff
• Networking opportunities with other volunteer professionals
• Gratification from helping youth prepare for a rewarding and productive summer experience
Volunteer criteria:
• Availability on Thursday, June 24 and/or Wednesday, June 30 from 9:30 am-12:30 pm
• A willingness to train aspiring future professionals

Over a two-day period, you’ll gain access to an audience of 600 young people (and have an excuse to empty out the giveaways in your supply closet)! Your participation includes brining all/any materials and visual aids (posters, etc.) about your organization that you would like to share with youth. So pack your sunscreen, grab your boarding pass, and get ready for an international adventure!

• Networking opportunities with other volunteer professionals
• An opportunity to interact with the workforce of tomorrow!
Exhibitor criteria:
